 What a crazy busy day we had with technology. Today we got to use the chrome books and the iPads. You were introduced to some different programs such as my blueprint and google classroom. We will continue to explore these tools. Your challenge this week is to log onto my blue print and create an avatar and add at least 3 about me pieces. Up for a Challenge?

Hello Everyone,


What a fun day! The highlight for me was definitely our social studies activity. I was so proud of the way you handled yourselves and how eager all of you were to participate. Your daily challenge tonight,is to summarize the activity that we did in class today. Don't forget to highlight some of the things that you have learned from this activity and to talk about what everything represented in the game (e.g. puzzle pieces, teams etc..). You may also reflect on different challenges that you faced as a group (stock market crash, flood, giving money to the government etc.) You also can give real life examples that are happening in our world now (e.g. talk about other countries or problems in the world etc.).


See you tomorrow! Don't forget to log those reading minutes (agenda calendar). Remember,  I am looking for you to be reading at home at least four nights a week.


The top five readers tonight, might just get something......signatures perhaps? How many? You'll find out tomorrow :)

Complete the following riddles below. Use the digits in the box to answer each number in the riddle. These ones are more complicated....remember to show GRIT!!

Remember A Prime Number can be divided evenly only by 1, or itself.

 

b) I am a 5 digit number greater than 30 000 and less than 40 000. My first and last digits are the same. The sum of thousands, hundreds, and tens digits is 15. My tens digit is 4 times as great as my hundreds digit. What number am I?

c) I am a number greater than 40 000 and less than 60 000. My ones digit and tens digit are the same. My ten thousands digit is 1 less than 3 times the sum of my ones digit and tens digit. My thousands digit is half my hundreds digit and the sum of those two digits is 9. What number am I?

The week ahead:

Literacy - We will continue working on preparing for the 40 book challenge 

- Students will be writing the CASI assessment this week

- Rough copies due for the I am Poem on Thursday 

Math- focus will be on place value and rounding whole numbers 

- Practice times tables for the name of the game (Round 2, 3, 4 this week)

Social Studies- Our first unit will be "Canada's connections to the World" - we will be focusing on trade as well as other ways we are connected to countries from around the world

- Hang onto those articles and souvenirs from other countries - we will be using them soon  

Art- Minecraft Selfies- due Thursday

Happy first day of school everyone:) This my very first blog, ever! I am so excited about the potential that this tool will have for our classroom and our learning. This will be a learning process for all of us and I hope it will be a positive communication tool between home and school.
