Happy Weekend :)

Hi Everyone,
Here is a quick update on different things going on in our classroom.

Social Studies- Quiz will be on Monday- students have a review (checklist is also on the blog) to prepare for this

Literacy- Writing - We are beginning to draft our Halloween Narratives- students must include 3 forms of figurative language

Math- We are continuing with our data management unit - we will be working on analyzing and drawing conclusions from graphs and data next week - The test will be coming up soon (likely the end of next week)

Drama- We have been working on our tableaus in drama. They are WONDERFUL! We are hoping to share some at the Remembrance Day assembly- more info to follow :)

    Define the terms import and export

              An import is a good or service brought into one country from another.

              An export is a good or service that is sold to another

Define the terms good and service

       Goods are items that are tangible, such as books, pens, salt, shoes, hats and folders.

      Services are activities provided by other people, such as doctors, lawn care workers,           dentists, barbers, waiters, or online servers.

Identify reasons to why a country would trade with another countries –In              social studies folder

               Describe ways in which Canada is connected to USA –Note taken from   

              video (posted on the blog)

  Name and define the four lenses- In notebook- we will be working on                  this throughout the week

Give examples of world issues that would fall under each lenses- Will                       be covered throughout the week through a class

Identify one organization per lense (e.g. economic-NAFTA)- will be covered throughout the week through a class inquiry

Tableau

Hi Everyone,

What a fun day in drama today :) Here is a follow up to our discussion on the tableau project.

Daily Challenge: Cut and paste the link into the address bar. Watch the tableau. This will give you a rough idea of what I am looking for. Your group's tableau must have a song as well as at least five transitions and scenes. We will go into more detail next drama class and come up with some success criteria together.

Math Prodigy

Hey Everyone! 

Most of you are familiar with the game math prodigy. If you were not here today our class code is EB19E7. Your daily challenge is to play the game for at least 15 minutes. I have added some assignments to game, so your answers will be submitted to me. The content will cover a variety of math strands, but the assessment piece will only be on content covered in class so far.

Week of October 17th

Congratulations to everyone for the wonderful job on your social studies presentations. They were well done!

Week Ahead: Literacy- Recount- Good copy due on Wednesday- submit through google docs Starting narratives We are continuing looking at the reading strategies and applying them to our novel Word Nerd

It was such a pleasure meeting all of you last night at "meet the teacher." I can see why your kids are so great, because they have such supportive parents behind them.
