Weekly Update

Math- Today we started our algebra unit - This is a very short unit ,so we will be having a quiz on Monday, May 1st

Literacy- We started presenting our debates - We have one more to go tomorrow. We then will be reviewing the writing forms

Social Studies- Students are working on their inquiry projects- presentations will begin next week

Science- We will begin our electricity unit this week

Weekly Update & Math review

Weekly Update

Math- We will be having a math quiz on Friday, April 21st. It will be on ratios, unit rates and BEDMAS. Please see the review below and have it completed for Thursday
-Please sign and send back the fraction math test

Literacy- We have been preparing for our debates - Students will be give two more prep days and the first debate will be on Thursday  

Social Studies-We are working away on our inquiry projects. Students independently will be exploring a topic that interests them under the topic "Canada Past and Present" - students will be preparing a presentation to share with their peers

Weekly Update& Daily Challenge


Math- We will be looking at ratios and unit rates this week. We will also be focusing on BEDMAS.

Literacy- We will be finishing our novel "Wenjack"
-This week we will be working on our debates - this assignment will consist of both a written and oral component- Students will be put on a debate team and will randomly select a topic and position - The debates will be presented in a specific format and will follow a set of success criteria

Social Studies- This week we will be starting our inquiry projects- Students can choose a topic that falls under the umbrella of Canada Past and Present

Weekly Update

Math- We will be writing our fraction and decimal test on Wednesday, April 5th. Part 1 & 2 of the blog review has been posted and we have been reviewing in class as well. For the remainder of the week, we will be focusing on word problems involving fractions and decimals. In our next unit, we will be focusing on ratios and unit rate. 

Literacy- Students should have their draft copies of their persuasive writing completed for Wednesday. On Wednesday, students will be working through a peer assessment. Good copies will be due on Friday, April 7th. 

Social Studies- We will be focusing on the impact that Europeans had on the Aboriginal Communities.One issue that we will touch on this week, is residential schools. We will be watching a video called " The Secret Path" by Gord Downie. Later in the week, students will be exploring different communities in Canada focusing on push/pull factors and different challenges that they faced when arriving to Canada

- Permission form for scientist in schools is coming home tonight (permission form and payment due on April 14th)
