Good Evening Everyone,
Below is some extra review questions for our upcoming math test, which is scheduled for Monday November 7th. We will also be completing a review in class tomorrow and taking up the answers on Monday.

Good Luck! You are able to use a calculator for any of the questions.

1. The weekly salaries of six employees at McDonalds are $140, $220, $90, $180, $140, $200. For these six salaries, find: (a) the mean (b) the median (c) the mode 


2. Andy has grades of 84, 65, and 76 on three math tests.  What grade must he obtain on the next test to have an average of exactly 80 for the four tests?

3. Test scores for a class of 20 students are as follows:
93, 84, 97, 98, 100, 78, 86, 100, 85, 92, 72, 55, 91, 90, 75, 94, 83, 60, 81, 95 

4.  Complete the tally chart to represent the data above.

Update & DAILY CHALLENGE

Hi Everyone,
 A quick update and a DAILY CHALLENGE :)

Math- We are finishing up data management and will have a test on Monday- Review will be Friday- and some extra review stuff will be posted on the blog

Reading- We finished our first novel Word Nerd today- we will be doing some characterization and responses over the next couple of days - Be sure to get reading time in this week :)

Social Studies- Test are coming home today- with an exception of people who had to rewrite certain sections or haven't completed the test yet - Please sign and return

Science- We are starting our unit on biodiversity this week- We will be looking at the classification system of living things and doing some outdoor exploration - more info on this to follow

Drama- You should see the tableau performances they are BEAUTIFUL. Some groups are interested in performing for the Remembrance Day Assembly - if you are able, please come and see it :) Performers, if you could please dress in black. We will supply a poppy.

Will be performing at the 9:30 a.m. assembly for the primary division

Will be performing at the  junior/intermediate assembly at 10:20 a.m.

AND NOW.............the Daily Challenge!!! Actually, there is two tonight. Do both if you want to.

a) Write a descriptive paragraph describing an emotion of a character. You can NOT name the emotion, but need to communicate it through words and the five senses. Don't forget those figurative language terms that we have been using in class. (Here are some examples of some of emotions that you may use - fear, sadness, surprise, joy etc.)


b)  Solve the following math problem.

Sue is a member of the starting line up of a school's hockey team. The heights of the other starting

153 cm, 145 cm, 150 cm, 161 cm,

The mean height of the starting line up is 152. What is Sue's height?

Hi Everyone,
Here is a quick update on different things going on in our classroom.

Social Studies- Quiz will be on Monday- students have a review (checklist is also on the blog) to prepare for this

Literacy- Writing - We are beginning to draft our Halloween Narratives- students must include 3 forms of figurative language

Math- We are continuing with our data management unit - we will be working on analyzing and drawing conclusions from graphs and data next week - The test will be coming up soon (likely the end of next week)

Drama- We have been working on our tableaus in drama. They are WONDERFUL! We are hoping to share some at the Remembrance Day assembly- more info to follow :)

    Define the terms import and export

              An import is a good or service brought into one country from another.

              An export is a good or service that is sold to another

Define the terms good and service

       Goods are items that are tangible, such as books, pens, salt, shoes, hats and folders.

      Services are activities provided by other people, such as doctors, lawn care workers,           dentists, barbers, waiters, or online servers.

Identify reasons to why a country would trade with another countries –In              social studies folder

               Describe ways in which Canada is connected to USA –Note taken from   

              video (posted on the blog)

  Name and define the four lenses- In notebook- we will be working on                  this throughout the week

Give examples of world issues that would fall under each lenses- Will                       be covered throughout the week through a class

Identify one organization per lense (e.g. economic-NAFTA)- will be covered throughout the week through a class inquiry

Tableau

Hi Everyone,

What a fun day in drama today :) Here is a follow up to our discussion on the tableau project.

Daily Challenge: Cut and paste the link into the address bar. Watch the tableau. This will give you a rough idea of what I am looking for. Your group's tableau must have a song as well as at least five transitions and scenes. We will go into more detail next drama class and come up with some success criteria together.

Math Prodigy

Hey Everyone! 

Most of you are familiar with the game math prodigy. If you were not here today our class code is EB19E7. Your daily challenge is to play the game for at least 15 minutes. I have added some assignments to game, so your answers will be submitted to me. The content will cover a variety of math strands, but the assessment piece will only be on content covered in class so far.
