Weekly Update & Daily Challenge

Hello Everyone,

Here is a quick overview of the week ahead :)

Math: -We are continuing with the first twenty days math
- We are working on rounding numbers this week and place value
- We will be completing x2 in our race track math --students can practice for x3(we will start next week)

Literacy: -We will starting our unit on recounts this week and coming up with success criteria
- We will be focusing on summaries in reading
- We have started our novel Word Nerd and will be looking at different reading strategies throughout the novel

**Keep reading those books and tracking your reading time in your agenda**

Science- We will be looking at the classifications of living things and beginning to explore some of the different kingdoms

Weekly Update & Daily Challenge

Happy Monday Everyone!!

Thanks so much for a great first week! I will try my best at the beginning of each week to post a rough outline for each subject area.

Math- We are working through the first twenty days of math- through these activities we are exploring communication, positive mindset, teamwork and a variety of math processes.
We will also be starting to explore place value ( In grade 6, we are will focus on numbers to 1 000, 000)

Literacy-
Reading - We are gearing up for our forty book challenge
- We will be talking about just right books , how to pick a book and when to abandon a book
-We will also continue exploring a variety of different genres
-We will also be starting our new book "Word Nerd"

Writing- We are drafting our "I am" Poems
-introduction to recounts

Science- We will be starting our biodiversity unit - this week we will explore the characteristics of life and classifications of animals

Day 2- Daily Challenge

Hello grade six students,
Hope your are having a nice relaxing evening and resting up, I know I am TIRED!! Tomorrow please bring an artifact that represents you or something that you love. (e.g. could be a book if you like to read, a metal from a sports competition, a picture of your family etc.) You will get a chance tomorrow to share your artifact. Be creative! (signatures will be rewarded)
