Double Challenge

 Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder that the blog is a great way for not only you, but your parents to keep up to date on what is happening in our classroom. On the blog, I will post test reviews, due dates and weekly updates. Your daily challenge for tonight is to show your parents the blog and have them leave a comment (doesn't have to be complicated) or a note in your agenda that they saw it. Just so you are aware, our Google Classroom will be opening up next week.

a) I am the largest 6 digit number you can make that has a 1 in the thousands place and a 5 in the ten-thousands place. What number am I?

b) I am the smallest 6 digit even number you can make that has a a 6 in the hundreds place. What number am I?

c) I am a 4 digit number. My ones digit is 2. My tens digit is 4 greater than my ones digit. My hundreds and thousands digits are both 3 greater than my ones digit. What number am I?

Remember.....

An even number is a number that can be divided into two equal groups.

An odd number is a number that cannot be divided into two equal groups.

Even numbers end in 2, 4, 6, 8 and 0 regardless of how many digits they have (we know the number 5,917,624 is even because it ends in a 4!).

Odd numbers end in 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.

 

Welcome to Grade 6!!

Welcome Back Everyone! 

I am so happy to be back at school! This week was very different from most first weeks of school, but I just know we are going to have a fantastic year. Welcome to our classroom blog! This is a great way for you to stay up to date on what is happening in our classroom. Here I will post weekly updates, daily challenges, test reviews, as well as agenda notes. You should be checking the blog regularly.

Week 2 Outline

Good Morning Everyone!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. This week will be very similar in structure to last week.

2. Type write into the assignment sheet

Discussion Post - Online Learning:

This week our discussion post is going to be about the pros and cons of online learning . 
What are some things you are finding challenging? What are some things that you like?
 This should be in sentence format. Feel free to respond to some of your peers' responses too.
 Remember this is a learning forum so be mindful about what you say!

Day 2

GOOD MORNING!

We did it! We survived day 1! Everyone was able to get on and most of you completed the work. There was an issue when submitting some of the writing. Please take a look at your reflective writing from yesterday. If I didn't write back to you it is because I cannot find it anywhere. There are about 5 of you that I have nothing from. So, please resubmit it or send me a quick email letting me know where I can find it.

Today I would like to try an online discussion prompt through the blog. PLEASE, I remind you again, this is a learning forum. So, be mindful of what you say. There are new assignments for reading, writing and math today. They will be posted at 9 a.m. Please take your time with these tasks.  I am looking for the quality that I would expect in class.

As always, if there are any questions please don't hesitate to email. I touched base with most of you yesterday by the phone. I am hoping to touch base with all of you by the end of the week.

Online Learning Day 1

 Hello Grade 6 Students & Families,

Welcome to our first day of school, ONLINE!  I miss seeing you all! First and foremost, remember this is going to be a learning curve for all of us, but we will figure it out together. Our primary focus is going to be on math and literacy, and I will try and integrate other subjects when I can. Currently, assignments will only receive feedback and will NOT be assigned a letter grade/level.  My vision for this is that it will be as interactive as possible. I don't necessarily know how yet, but I am hoping to explore some different avenues this week with you. 

I will be posting regularly to our classroom blog. But, I have also opened a google docs (Class Code: z6i646u ) Please remember, when we are interacting or commenting on either the blog or google classroom we need to always be "professional". I will be monitoring this and anything that I feel does not belong will be removed. All assignments will be submitted either through google docs or google classroom. 

 Student expectations:

- Log on to Google Classroom CLASS CODE z6i646u

- You should be checking the blog daily (Monday -Friday)

- You should be checking our google classroom daily (Monday to Friday)

- You should be completing 30 minutes of literacy per day 

-You should be completing 30 minutes of math per day

-If you have any questions throughout the process you can leave a comment or email me. I will be checking this regularly throughout the day

-Flex Activities are provided for those who are interested 

 Parents, we are going to need your support through this process as well. Our classroom blog will be a great place for you to keep updated on what is happening as well.  Remember the students are very comfortable with technology. Our blog, google docs and other technology has been integrated into our program since day one. Communication is going to be key. Please, do not get stressed by this. If at any point you need some clarification or assistance do not hesitate to email.

Hello Everyone!
I miss seeing your smiling faces! Hope everyone is well and healthy. I have sent an email to every family. If you could please check and respond as soon as possible that would be great. In the meantime, students can be working on their research for their planet (they may also choose the sun or moon). They are taking jot notes about facts and info about their planet. Remember to record any sources that you use. I will be in touch in the next few days with more info.
