Biodiversity Project

 Hey Everyone!

Below is the outline for our biodiversity project. Students will be working on this project mainly at school. It is also posted in our Google Classroom for those students who wish to do it through Google Docs. Below I have listed some websites that will be helpful throughout the research process.

Grade 6 Biodiversity Science Project

RESEARCH PROJECT:  Choose a class of the animal kingdom that you would be interested in researching
(vertebrate or invertebrate). This can be completed with a partner or individually. The majority of this project
will be completed during class time. Remember, to write down any sources that use (websites, books etc)

Your project should touch on the following topics:
1)     Common characteristics it shares with other animals in its class (e.g . identify whether it is a bird, fish
reptile, amphibian or mammal and list their characteristics)
  • Where do they live in the world?
  • What type of ecosystem do they live in?
  • What are some of their physical characteristics?
  • What are their typical eating habits? What do they like to eat?
  • Are they social creatures or do they like to travel alone?
2)     List at least 5 species that fall into that class
3)     Identify at least 3 structural and behavioural adaptations of your animal
(special features or behaviour and how it helps that living thing survive in its habitat, e.g. webbed feet, fur)

4)     Biodiversity: How does this species contributes to the diversity of life
(positively or negatively) (e.g. food chain)

5)     Human Activity: How does human activity impact on the survival of your animal?

6)     Your own choice:  Any other interesting information

You will showcase your learning in a gallery walk. More information about due date will follow soon.
