Snow Day Agenda

 Happy Snow Day! 

 I hope everyone is safe and cozy at home. This is a great day to catch up on some work if you are not finished something. Many of you have a healthy menu to work on. Also, if you are not finished your writing on demand #2 (from yesterday) please do that. The writing prompt can be found in the assignment. I have also posted a "Snow Day" choice board for you to complete in Google Classroom. You need to pick an activity under each letter. I will check in on Google Meet at 12 p.m. for anyone who has questions. The link for this can be found on the banner above.

Weekly Update

 Good Morning Everyone,

Here is a quick update on the week ahead.

Math: We are continuing to work through our geometry unit. This week we will be drawing triangles using specific criteria and investigating quadrilaterals.

Test is scheduled for Tuesday, December 8th -The review will be done in class this time as we need a hard copy to measure the angles 

Literacy: This week we will be finishing our book "Word Nerd" - Students will be working an assignment to consolidate their learning

Writing : We are continuing to work on some "Writing Demands." Students are given a writing prompt and are to write about it in the correct format.

Social Studies:This week, we will continue to look at different groups of people and why they immigrated to Canada. We will focus on the Irish, Scottish and British Home Children. 

Later this week, I will be posting our social studies inquiry assignment. More information to follow. Students can start thinking about a topic that interests them. They can pick anything that falls under the umbrella of Canada's Past and Present.

Update & Metric Coversions

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Sorry I haven't been posting anything this week, it has been crazy busy with parent interviews. Here is a quick update on what we are working on.

Math: We have been working on measuring and creating angles with a protractor this week

Literacy- We are continuing to work on APE response to different text

Social Studies- We have been exploring the first contact between the First Nations and European Explorers.

Menu- Students have submitted their assignments on influences of food (if you haven't please do so by Monday)

-they are working on a healthy menu for three different meals

 Everyone should be so proud of our production of "This is a Soldier." Thank you for all your hard work! Everyone worked together as a team to accomplish our vision for such an important and meaningful assembly. I am so proud of each and every one of you!

 Good Morning Everyone! 

Hope you all had a great weekend. Here is an overview of the week ahead.

 Math- Operations Test - Tuesday, November 10th

-Our next unit will be metric units and conversions

Literacy- We will be working an a Remembrance Day writing piece this week. Students will be writing a letter from different point of views

Reading:

We will continue working with a short text in guided reading and responding to a variety of questions

 

Health: We are looking at different factors that affect our food choices - Students are submitting a written assignment through Google Classroom (Due Friday)

Social Studies: We are continuing to explore Diversity both in our classroom and throughout our country

-We will start exploring Canada's immigration policies

Art- We will be painting a rock in the theme of Remembrance Day

Weekly Update & Math Challenge

 Good Evening Everyone,

We have a very busy week in our classroom! Here is a quick look at the week ahead.

 

Literacy: 

Reading: We are continuing working with our book Word Nerd and a variety of reading strategies

-In guided reading we are looking at character traits and proving our answer with a quote from the text

 

Writing:

-Halloween Narratives Draft Copy -due on Wednesday

-We will be peer editing and conferencing this week 

-Remember to add three pieces of figurative language  

Math:

-We are wrapping up our operations unit this week 

-Test details and math review will be posted later in the week 

Science -

We are wrapping up our biodiversity unit this week

Social Studies-

Our first unit will be on Canada's Past and Present - Students will be exploring diversity 

 Drama:

Remembrance Day Production- we have been working really hard on our I-Movie. I will share the link once it is created 

Agenda:

-This week students will bring home a conference letter. Teacher conferences this year will be held via Google Meet or over the phone. More info to follow
