Calling All Word Nerds

Hello grade 6s,
To celebrate the beginning of our new book "Word Nerd" we are going to do a scrabble challenge.
How many words can you make from the letters of the word "Three Stooges". Write them in your agenda and bring them tomorrow.

The Week Ahead

  Hi Everyone,
Just a reminder that the blog is a great way for not only you, but your parents to keep up to date on what is happening in our classroom. Your daily challenge for tonight is to show your parents the blog and have them leave a comment (doesn't have to be complicated) or a note in your agenda that they saw it.
 Week Ahead:
Literacy- We have started our new novel Word Nerd and will be working on reading response in the APE format 
Writing - We will be reviewing the forms of writing with a focus particularly on narratives

Math- We have started our data management unit 
- This week we will focus on scatter plot graphs and interpreting data
Social Studies 
- We will be beginning our new unit  "Communities in Canada Past and Present"
Math Challenge- Remember, these are suppose to make you think! Remember, to show GRIT :)

I am back!!!

I am SO happy to be back! Thank you for such a great first day!  Welcome to our classroom blog! This is a great way for you to stay up to date on what is happening in our classroom. Here I will post weekly updates, daily challenges, test reviews, as well as agenda notes. You should be checking the blog regularly.

Some reminders for this week

Hi everyone,

Here are a few reminders related to important events, projects, and activities we have coming up over the next couple of days and weeks:

  • Tomorrow, June 13, there is a Grade 7 Kandalore trip information meeting at the school at 7 p.m. All parents of grade 6s are encouraged to attend in order to be aware of details for next year's trip.
  • Please bring newspapers to school for our math building project.
  • Please collect empty plastic bottles and other recyclable materials that you could use for our flight STEAM activities.

Hi everyone,

Congratulations on finishing the first day of EQAO!

Here's a reminder of what I mentioned at the end of the day:


  • You have until tomorrow morning to submit the EQAO math review which I gave out on Friday (worth many signatures!!). Below, I will post a picture of the "Helpful Hints" that were up on the board on Friday.

  • If you haven't yet handed in your dance permission form and paid (online or cash/cheque), please do so as soon as possible. Dance begins next week.

Equations, equations, equations!

Good afternoon, grade 6s!

As promised, here's a photo of your algebraic equations...anyone going to take on the challenge of solving them all?! (or as many as are possible to solve)

Also, this is a reminder of a few things I mentioned on Friday:

  • math test - Tuesday
  • please bring in any magazines you have that we could cut up for art
  • yearbook orders are due Thursday (order online or bring the form and money to school)
  • and please remember that the SMAC team is collecting toiletries until the end of the month to donate to homeless shelters in our area
