Media Assignment

Media Assignment
This week we started our media unit and looked at different advertising strategies that are used to get people to buy a product. One of the assignments in this unit, will require you to pick a commercial to show to the class. You will then have to critique the commercial using the format we did in class (see below). Students will be given ample time in class to complete this.

Your commercial must be:
 appropriate for school
-selling a product

You will be presenting your finding to the class. The format below will help guide you.
Product Name:
What is the overt message? (What is the obvious message?)

What is the implied message? (What is the hidden message?)

Who is the target audience?

What are three strategies that are used during this advertisement? Support your thinking.

Secret Santa

Shhhhhh!
Secret Santa!

Dear Parents,

To celebrate classroom community, our classroom has chosen to participate in a Secret Santa gift exchange. This is a fun and exciting way to bring holiday cheer into the classroom and provide opportunities to encourage one another this holiday season.

Each student will draw a classmate’s name and will be responsible for providing “random acts of kindness” for this friend leading up to Christmas Break. In addition, a $10 gift will be wrapped and exchanged at our Christmas party the last week of school. Please let me know ASAP if this will be a problem. Remember, the gift should be wrapped and should only have the receiver’s name on it. We are planning on having the gift exchange on Thursday, December 19th, 2019.

Please send me an email or encourage your child to speak with me directly if there are any questions or concerns. Thank you for your help with this special initiative. It is my hope that this activity will be a valuable lesson in generosity and outward thinking for each student involved.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support.

Happy Holidays,
Sincerely,
Kerry Breau
